Nissan Leaf

Launch video

I like this video a lot. It's really clever! Okay, so the song is annoying-when isn't "happy birthday" annoying? BUT, it works here. I've never thought of electrical outlets as animate objects-pretty cute.

This is a really neat mix of illustration, photography, and animation.

chameleon

Launch video

This is a totally fun, totally weird MTV video. I like the movement of the camera and the movement of the guy. The distortion of the characters bodies are interesting. The hair bit is also funny, even more so after reading the description about boys and puberty.

Escape

Launch Video and click on Escape Music Video

I dig this style of music and appreciate what was done with the music video. Apparently, the filmmakers animated over 130 photoshop brushes and used illustration, film, photography and 3-D motion design. Even though there are so many elements, things stay unified and of a certain "look." It's interesting how you can only see one side of either man's face in all the shots.

Clorox/MadMen vignette

Clorox/MadMen vignette

I like this little commercial because it uses the Madmen style and motifs really well. It's clever and memorable. They wait until the end of the commercial to show you the product, giving it the effect of a punch line. The illustration style is really cool, simple, and easy on the eye. I also enjoy the limited color palette.

SOLIPSIST

by Andrew Huang

This is a very weird, extremely rich video that was a winner in the Sundance Film Festival. It's really cool and entrancing. The colors are so vivid and vibrant  and the the textures are unreal. I appreciate seeing humans intermixed with these strange and enticing creature like things. I'd love to see the making of this. The sound work is also excellent.

Dvein // EVA 'Main Titles'

Launch video

The artwork in this animation is stunning and very surreal. I like how the seemingly natural elements become robotic or machine like. I can't imagine how this animation was done. The subtle reflections are a nice touch also- I wonder if they capture the animators hard at work.

Origami In the Pursuit of Perfection

This is a really wonderful little video telling the story of a shoe company. I love the how clean the composition is, the use of repetition, and the animation of origami, which ties into the culture of company's home. The narrator also has a very captivating voice. This combination of wonderful elements makes watching this advertisement fun.

ABC Cinema

This is a video sort of like the one that Jen posted a couple weeks back where you're supposed to guess the movie titles that the animation alludes to.  There are really great transitions and motion effects. I like how all of the content is more or less framed within the circle in the middle. It unifies the scenes but also provides a good way to break expectations.

Fluffy McCloud

I like this animation a lot–it's very charming! I appreciate the combination of hand drawing, stop motion, and live action. There is a bit of humor in the story and a cute little cloud starring as the protagonist. The film was done by a graduate student at the Institute of Art, Design, and Technology National Film School.

IS TROPICAL | THE GREEKS

Launch video

This is a video I saw in Bryan Hudson's adv. photo class last semester. I guess one of his former students sent it to him. I'll warn you, It's a little gruesome and involves children, but the gruesome parts are animated and totally fake! It's pretty funny and shows an interesting way of combining actual footage with animated footage.

When you land on the Girl Scouts' website, you're welcomed by this sweet little animation. I like the dreamy color palette and find it to complement the concept very well. I really enjoyed watching it and then participating in the interactivity that follows. Its inspiring and thought provoking- asking you to provide a story of what would make a girl strong. The images are rich in detail, leaving me very impressed.
